Volunteer Opportunities

As an organization, we think it’s important to help those around us in various capacities and give back to the community.

Here are some service opportunities!

Lasagna Love

What is it?

Lasagna Love is a national movement that seeks to feed families experiencing food insecurity. It begin at the beginning of the pandemic with a mom and child making lasagna for families in their community. Essentially, to volunteer for this, you will cook a meal for a family in need and deliver it to them!

What can you do?

Although we would love to have small group volunteer opportunities in our home, COVID makes this unsafe! Instead, you or a group of friends can cook lasagna (or any type of meal) for families in Tuscaloosa! You can do this at whatever frequency works for you, your time, and your budget!

How many hours can I count?

However many hours you spend cooking!

West Alabama Food Bank

What can I do?

Bring canned foods to SDA meetings! For every 5 cans, you can count 1 service hour.

Blogging

If you submit a blog post for SDA, you can count up to 3 hours of community service hours, depending on how much time it takes to write the article!
